Experience the power of public education.
Welcome to Sherwood Elementary. We are proud of our dedicated, experienced staff and enthusiastic learners!
As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to insure that each student reach their potential. We believe that all of us – the school and the community – must work together in an extended family environment to insure success for all our students.
We believe it is everyone’s responsibility to empower children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically, and emotionally successful and responsible. With that in mind, you are invited to be an active participant at Sherwood Elementary. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, a member of the PTO, special event participation, or member of one of our school communities, you are encouraged to be involved! Research on schools clearly demonstrates that parent participation in their child’s school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for their child.
It is our desire to keep you informed of all that is taking place at school. Up-to-date and additional information will be sent to you though the "daily communicator folder” and will appear on our school web page. If you have questions or concerns that arise at any time, please do not hesitate to give your child’s teacher or me a call. I look forward to having a long and rewarding relationship with you and your family.
As principal, I want to assure you that the faculty, staff and I are all working together to provide a challenging and positive academic environment for each child. You should feel confident that we will be addressing all of your child’s learning needs. I also want you to know that I am always available to you if there is any concern. Please feel free to call the office to schedule an appointment to meet with me at any time. As parents, you are your child’s first and most influential teacher. Communication between home and school is critical to your child’s academic success. One of the very best things you can do to help your child succeed academically is to read to your child every day. Also, if they are ready, have your child read to you. Reading is so important to success in every subject area.
As we approach the next decade, electronics will become an essential part of our daily lives more so than they are today. Please try to set reasonable limits for their use and be sure to monitor your children. We want them using technological tools appropriately to become a responsible 21st Century learner. All children can and will learn to their potential here at Sherwood Elementary. We care about your child's development in all areas: academically, socially, emotionally, and mentally.
This will be an exceptional year! Thank you so much for choosing Sherwood Elementary for your child. Let’s work together to do what is best for the school and all of the students.
